Feasibility study backs a northern rail line
A study paid for by the county says a commuter line from Mto Mkuu to Kivuli would carry 18,000 people a day by its fifth year.
A feasibility study commissioned by the county council has found that a commuter rail line from Mto Mkuu to Kivuli would carry about 18,000 passengers a day within five years of opening.
The study looked at three routes. It recommends the eastern route along the old cattle track, which passes Kora Junction and Riverside ward and needs the least land.
The council's transport committee will hold public hearings before any route is chosen, its chair told the Times.
The study puts the cost of the whole line at between KSh 70bn and KSh 85bn, built in two phases.
