A fire destroyed about 60 stalls in the clothing section of Ndovu market overnight. No one was hurt.
The traders' association estimates its members lost stock worth about KSh 9m. The county fire engine arrived from Mto Mkuu after 40 minutes.
The council has promised temporary stalls within two weeks and a review of where the market should be.
